About me…
My name is Ellie Taylor, I am the owner of Empower Dyslexia Assessment.
I am a qualified teacher and SENDCo and have worked in a large secondary school in Northamptonshire for the last 16 years. During my time as a SENDCo I became aware of how many students struggle with literacy, particularly dyslexia, and the enormous benefits that they can gain from high quality, adaptive teaching and appropriate support.
This inspired me to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties & Inclusion at the University of Northampton. This qualification allows me to diagnose and teach learners with dyslexia.
As part of the course I have trained in the use of the very latest SASC diagnostic report format, as well as the most up-to-date tests available. I achieved a distinction on this qualification, the very highest grade achievable.
I have an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) through PATOSS (APC number 500003643-IF11072) which means that my reports can be used for Disabled Students Allowance applications and I am registered with PATOSS, the professional association of teachers of students with specific learning difficulties. I am also a Member of the Dyslexia Guild.
I renew my qualifications every three years and regularly undertake training to ensure that I keep my knowledge and expertise current with the latest research.
I am passionate about learning and ensuring that learners are empowered to achieve their full potential in school and beyond. All my reports contain individualised, practical and achievable advice to support learning in the classroom and at home.
I have over 12 years of experience in working with and supporting students with special educational needs and learning differences. I am very calm and kind, with a friendly approach to put them at their ease and where possible I will make adaptations to the testing environment to ensure that they feel comfortable, provided that it does not interfere with the integrity of the assessment!
If you are interested in any of my services then please use the contact form to get in touch and we can arrange a mutually convenient time to speak. The initial consultation call is completely free and I will never accept a booking if I feel that it is not suitable for you or your child.
